4) Tents and Sleeping Bags

Birmingham has secured 10,000 tents and sleeping bags. If you would like one or more of these for use on the trip, as you will be sleeping either in your vehicles or outside at times, please call Councillor Ishtiaq on 07973600450 or Councillor Naheem on 07976256360.

5) VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS

Legal requirements for Europe (all available at, for example, Halfords):
1. Red warning triangle
2. Complete spare bulb set (headlights, side lights, indicators, tail lights, brake lights, fog lights)
3. Fire extinguisher
4. First-aid kit
5. High-visibility (i.e. day-glo yellow) jacket for every occupant of the vehicle including non-drivers
6. A GB sticker at the rear (available at the ferry port)
7. Headlamp beam adjusters (stickers to set your lamps to be legal in left-hand drive countries)
Advisable items but not compulsory
• A can of emergency tyre repair (ruins tyres but is useful if you run out of spare tyres - NOT a replacement for a spare - carry one of those as well!)
• A fuel filter for diesels (usually around £10 so don't be put off that it sounds technical!)
• A spare fan belt (or two if vehicle has two)

Items recommended for at least one vehicle in your team (please don't rely on everyone else having them):
• A set of jump leads
• A tow rope suitable width='100%' for the weight of your vehicle (cheap ones will not do for large vans)

6) Inoculations

What the NHS does advise are the normal boosters of the vaccines most UK people have:

Diphtheria
Tetanus
Polio
Typhoid

- which most GPs keep in stock;

and additionally they recommend getting:

Hepatitis A
Hepatitis B
